{June 9, 2009}   Tinkerbell

This fairy is the most popular of all time! She is in Hook, Peter Pan, T-Shirts, Bags and all other stuff. No one can resist her charms, not even me!

She is Peter Pan’s companion. She is known to be spiteful though.

Here is a little history of her in case you were wondering…This story all started in 1904 by the play, “Peter Pan Or The Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up” By J.M. Barrie.

It was first staged then followed a few years later by a book Peter Pan and Wendy. This was how Tinker Bell was featured then later she was Tinkerbell put together…

Now in the book, her capriciousness is deemed to be because her tiny size prevents her from holding more than one feeling at a time.

She is described as “exquisitely gowned in a leaf, cut low and square, so her figure can be seen to the best advantage.”

Tinkerbell is described as a common fairy who mends pots and kettles-a tinker-and as we all know her as sometimes “Tink”.

So here is her little Bio..enjoy!!

Do you remember the story of Cinderella? Well, I know I do. The faery in this popular story and movie has been put to good use as we all can see. A lot of little girls (and probably us big girls) love her!

Now, the faerie in this story is a faerie godmother and when Cinderella can’t go to the ball, Fate is in her hands where she meets a handsome prince and her faerie godmother decides to use glamor to change the appearance of many things…We all remember the pumpkin, do we not?  Glamor transformed all the dreary and mundane into “glamorous”.

The pumpkin became a coach, the dog became the driver, six mice became the horses, and now the best part…her ratty clothes became a magnificent gown dress! We can all sigh now…lol. It had white silk, embroidered with butterflies and flowers of delicated blue and sewn with seed pearls. Now on her feet were glass shoes, and we all know it would only fit on her…heeheehee.

Also, remember when the clock stroke twelve, she would become dressed in rags again? The point I am making is, her Godmother made her appear to be other than she is, but a happier person than she was. I am sure we all have Faerie Godparents or Godmothers in some shape or form and we just don’t know it yet.

Did you know that winged faeries are associated with butterflies and moths? They are part of the family called Lepidoptera, from the Greek word (and I am not Greek, lol), lepidopteron , which means “scaly-wing.”

Their wings are covered with many tiny scales that rub off easily, giving the appearance of ethereal dust.  But Faerie dust, as we can only imagine come from the wings of our many faery friends and have they (the wings) magical properties.

Now we know that faery wingsare alot like insect wings. Some faeries have wings of a dragonfly, while others have wings of a bumblebee, Others, have wings like stained glass.

Unlike insects, faeries don’t use their wings to fly!

They sit instead on plants and ragwort, broomstick style!

{March 18, 2009}   Luck Of the Faeries

Did you know that faeries are known to bring luck? They also have the gift of foresight and can influence your luck for better or worse. There are some stories that tell of good luck that is bestowed in return for a good deed, but usually its handed out rarely.
For example, many stories of human midwives are called in to help with faery births, some are rewarded with luck, money, or thanks…less fortunate are lucky if they escape and be alive!!

{February 2, 2009}   Faery Kingdom

Did you know sometimes faeries are portrayed as nature spirits, and other times supernatural beings or spirits of the dead? I am not really sure if its true but they say thats true then I am not going to say nothing bad about them faeries because you’ll never know what they’ll do…*sigh*

They are believed to be between human beings and angels, inhabiting the twilight world of the Middle Kingdom.

For Instance, did you know in Paradise Lost, written by John Milton in the seventeenth century likens the fallen angels as they built Pandaemonium to “faerie elves.”

Its a popular belief they are (fallen angels), ejected from Heaven, but not evil enough for hell have become faeries.

That’s interesting isn’t it? I wonder if that what really happens? That would be cool in a way. It’s like getting another chance of proving yourself, huh? Well, enjoy yourselves!

{December 24, 2008}   Temperament of a Faery

The beginning of the “once upon a time” and happily ever after and endings of fairy tales, are a human invention, literally.

the are not much to do with faeries themselves.

Now the world of a faery is a place of dark enchantments, great beauty, and repulsive ugliness, mischief, and humor.

of course, today we think they are gentle, and beautiful creatures  some are hideous. some can also be very tricky too. and possibly  dangerous, they take many forms.

Mortals who met with them might be given wonderful luck or terrible misfortune.

{December 23, 2008}   What’s In a Name?

The name faerie comes from a combination of the words ” fae” which is friend, and “eire” which is green. They are your green friends!!
Here is a faerie:

The latin root is fata, the name for Fates.

Did you know the Faerie replaced the old english way of the word “elf”?

William Shakespeare wrote of them in poetry and plays also, in the 1500’s to the 1600’s!

{December 20, 2008}   What are Faeries?

Faeries live on an astral level as part of the spiritual world which is normally hidden from us to see but it coexists with our physical world.

All Faeries have some kind of powers, can bestow good or bad luck on humans at will.
